Chris Leach represented Canada in rowing at the 1960 and 1964 Summer Games.
The founder of the Trent University Rowing Club, Chris Leach, started the Head of the Trent regatta in 1971. The inaugural regatta hosted crews from Brock University, the University of Toronto and Trent University. In the intervening years it has grown to include competition from all the universities in the region, as well as to incorporate club events. The present regatta boasts over 50 universities and clubs competing with an estimated 1,200 athletes participating over the course of the day — making Head of the Trent the largest single day regatta in North America.
